PCI Card to Make Desktop Wireless???

I want to make my desktop PC wireless so, I know I’m going to need to get a PCI card. I already have a wireless router (Netgear ADSL Modem Wireless Router Model DG834GB – 54Mbps; 2.4 GHz; 802.11g). Can I get any PCI card or do I need a specific one that is compatible with my router? Also, I plan on putting my computer upstairs and the only hookup for my router is downstairs (we’re in a military post in Germay and there is only one jack in the whole house!). Will I get a good enough signal if I do this? I didn’ t know if the walls would interfer with signal etc. Also, if you have any suggestions on what PCI card to get, I’d greatly appreciate it! do they sell dvd players that strap on a headrest instead of needing to be installed? thanks.
i would just use a regular portable but its for my one-year-old to watch while on long trips and she cant exactly hold it.
